Even though I’m always suggesting meditation to people, I myself, many days experience resistance to taking that time to be still, breath and let myself re-charge.
So what do i do?
I take time when traveling, before or instead of a nap (yes I love naps!), a moment in the day when there is nothing else, whatever moment that inspires me to slow down and be present.
To sink into my body (relaxation) or maybe even a full body scanning (mindfulness), feel my feet (focus), noticing my breath (mindfulness) or do a bit of visualization.
I know that for many “serious” meditators that wouldn’t be considered meditation and I do know that a longer time to go deeper will almost always give different results, but I think something is better than nothing.
If we can make meditation more accessible to more people then it will both spread to a deeper habit and also increase compassion, acceptance and love for others in the world.
So take that step towards more of the good stuff and don’t worry so much about how you do it.
